I'd like to take a moment and thank those of you who are here now, the very first members of the Northwest Sportsman Forum! Most of you are here because you've read my posts on Northwest Firearms, so you probably already have an idea of our goals with this community. I'll touch on that once more, just for good measure

As you probably know, Northwest Firearms is the largest firearm forum in the Northwest. What we've done there since 2008 has been pretty incredible, and most agree that our forum management is among the best. This didn't happen overnight. In fact, it's taken years to get the balance just right, but forums out there still haven't figured it out. You've been asking for it for years, and we're finally doing it; throwing our hat in the ring with the other hunting and fishing forums, because we think we can do it better.

Moderation seems to be the top complaint by members of other forums. We take pride in our belief in transparency, without the us-versus-them atmosphere, heavy-handed gestapo tactics, good-ol-boy politics, or favored groups of members. Our rules are clearly written and easy to understand. Members know why their post was edited, which moderator edited it, why their receiving a warning, or, worst case, why they're taking a vacation from the site. There will always be bad apples, but honest folks shouldn't be penalized for honest mistakes.

I won't get into it in this thread, the long list of other reasons which will set us apart. I will say that it is extensive, the sky is the limit, and we cannot do it without members like you. As we enter the beta phase for this site, we're going to need all the help we can get, promoting the site, creating content, and much more.
