It gets pretty good in early April in Eastern OR. Sometimes early March. Early is better because the alfalfa hasnt grown too tall yet. Also, Western Idaho has A TON of whistle pigs if youre looking for new carnage fields. Have fun blasting!

In Western Idaho are any of the reasonably good hunting areas public land?

Simco Road and surrounding area. Birds of Prey(but only shotgun/bow. NO RIFLES OR PISTOLS) However, I prefer hunting on private farmland because of the surplus population of squirrels and the farmers really appreciate it.

That is good info. I guess the best way to get access to private land is to start pounding pavement!

I can always use more shooting buddies! I just signed up for the Parma Rod and Gun club. I sometimes shoot in the Precision Rifle Series and am looking for some good spots to go training/shooting on the weekends. Figure eventually I will just buy some steel and head out to BLM and go to town :)
